MF Utility (MFU) is an innovative initiative from the Mutual Fund Industry which offers convenience and empowers the investors of Mutual Fund schemes. MFU facilitates the investors with a
Common Account Number (CAN) which enables them to transact in multiple schemes of various Mutual Funds participating in MFU through a single transaction and consolidated payment.
MFU provides a 24x7 universal online access across Mutual Funds to investors to access NAV and Scheme related information and content. Through MFU, investors will be able to have a consolidated view of their holdings and transactions at industry level. MFU will also provide value added services like Common Account Statement (CAS), Alerts, Triggers, Reminders etc., to investors.
Procuring your CAN is a two-step process:
- Download CAN Forms.
- Print, fill, sign and submit the CAN Form to the nearest location for processing. Several locations of our Registrar & Transfer Agent, CAMS, accept these Forms. The complete list is given here.

Benefits of Common Account Number (CAN)
Individual and Non Individual CAN Registration Forms are available for download. Submit the filled in CAN Registration form along with required documents at the nearest MFU POS or at MFU office.
CAN will be a single reference number issued by MFU created only once for a unique combination of
- Number of investors
- Order of Holding
- Mode of Holding
- Social Status, etc
Upon creation, CAN will map itself with the existing folios of the Investors across Mutual Funds participating in MFU, that are matching the CAN criteria, thereby providing a consolidated view of all the investments in the Mutual Fund industry.
